Ali MacGraw (born Elizabeth Alice MacGraw in Pound Ridge, New York on April 1, 1939) is an American actress, author, model, and animal rights activist. Beginning in 1960, Ali spent six years working at Harper’s Bazaar magazine as a photographic assistant to fashion maven Diana Vreeland. She then worked at Vogue magazine as a fashion model, and as a photographer’s stylist. Ali began her film career in television commercials, but she gained critical notice in the 1969 film, Goodbye, Columbus.
